Fitness Everyday for a Healthier You

We don’t have to tell you that keeping active is necessary to maintain an optimal weight and overall general health.

But, we will remind you that staying active doesn’t have to be a chore.

The key is to find physical activities that you enjoy, so that you’re more likely to stick with them.

If you’re pressed for time, here are some quick ways to sneak in some movement.

At work:

  • You’ve heard it before, but it really does help to take the stairs instead of the escalator or elevator. If you do this every time, pretty soon you won’t even miss the assisted effort to get to your floor.
  • Use your lunch hour wisely. Give yourself a mental break and go for a short walk, then return and eat your lunch. You’ll arrive back at the office refreshed.
  • Take a break from technology. Walk over to your co-worker’s desk instead of sending an email.

At home:

  • Grab a light weight while you’re watching television and do some reps. No weights? Then use your body weight to do modified push-ups.
  • Don’t just let the dog out in the backyard—walk the dog! Both you and your pet benefit from activity.
  • Schedule weekend family events that involve physical activities everyone can enjoy. It can be as simple as playing Frisbee in your backyard to walking through your local zoo.
